AI ad copy that still sounds like your brand: 3 techniques
The easy part of AI ad copywriting is generating sentences: they show up in seconds. The hard part is making those sentences sound like they came from your brand. Feed the same brief to the same tool and dozens of brands get the same patterns, so the copy carries the right information without carrying the brand.
The gap shows up in two places: the copy bounces back through several approval rounds and the launch slips, or the ad that goes live contradicts the tone of your own site. This post covers three techniques that keep the brand voice, and where each one lives in the AdHero flow.
Why brand voice disappears in ad copy
Writing copy is not just sentence building. When the tone, the audience and the phrases your brand never uses are missing from the input, the draft comes out generic. Writing "friendly but professional" into a brief does not fix it either, because that phrase means something different for every brand.
So the first step is not production but definition: what tone you speak in, who you speak to, which messaging angles you use, and which phrases you never use. Without those three definitions in place, every generation starts over as a draft someone has to rewrite.
Technique 1: define tone and banned language before you generate
In AdHero that definition is the Brand DNA card. You enter your site address, the site gets scanned, and one card collects the result: tone, target audience, messaging angles, customer pains, color palette and logo. The scan usually takes 10-30 seconds, and you are not stuck with what comes back.
The most important field is the banned language list: the phrases your brand would never use, such as "best ever", "100%" or "free". Once a phrase is on the list, it stays out of suggestions. You draw the boundary before generation instead of cleaning up the copy afterwards.
Messaging angles come from the same card. Whatever you write under customer pains becomes a point the ad copy speaks to: a pain like "shipping a campaign without waiting for a designer" turns into a concrete promise in the body of the ad.
Technique 2: produce from ideas you approved, not from a blank prompt
The second technique is the idea pool. Every brand gets a daily pack of 8 ideas: 4 hooks, 2 messaging angles and 2 email subject lines. Ideas are free and never spend creative credits; swipe right to save the ones you like and pass on the rest.
The hook you pick becomes the headline of the visual. With a single hook selected you can attach one angle to steer the body copy. The model does not invent the sentence from nothing, it builds on the idea you approved, which is what puts your framing in control.
The payoff shows up in review: if a tone does not land, you change the idea rather than the copy, and the alternatives are already sitting in the same pack.
Technique 3: use the subject line verbatim, write the body from your Brand DNA
In an email draft the subject line you selected is used verbatim, and the body is written from your Brand DNA. That split matters: the first line stays in your hands while the long body is generated in the tone you defined. The subject line is the hook, the body is the brand speaking.
In social posts the visual arrives with a caption and hashtags; in ad images the hook and the angle build the structure of the copy. The same idea therefore ships in the same voice across channels, with no separate tone invented per platform.
The non-copy decisions stay fixed too. Images come in four sizes (Meta and Instagram feed 1080×1080, Instagram portrait 1080×1350, Story and Reels cover 1080×1920, LinkedIn feed 1200×627), and videos download as silent MP4 files between 5 and 20 seconds.
A three-question brand voice check before you publish
AI does not remove the final read, it speeds up the first draft. Before publishing, ask three questions. Does the copy say what the customer gains, or does it list product features? Did a phrase from your banned list slip in? Read next to the sentences on your own site, does it sound like the same voice?
If one of those has no clear answer, change the angle instead of regenerating the copy. The problem usually sits in the angle rather than the sentence, and a new angle pulls the body back toward the brand on its own.
Credits stay simple: one ad image, social post or email draft costs 1 creative credit, one video render costs 3. The template family can change that, since the scene family generates a fresh AI ambient visual and costs 2 credits while the other families cost 1. Ideas are free and a failed job refunds its credits.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Why does AI-written ad copy all sound the same?
A: Because the tool only gets a brief; the brand tone, audience and banned phrases are undefined. The Brand DNA card fixes that information before generation, which ties the output to the brand language.
Q: Do I have to do anything extra to keep the brand voice?
A: No. Enter your site address, review the card and fill in the banned language list. Until the card is ready, the idea feed and production screens stay closed.
Q: Can I still edit the copy myself?
A: Yes. The hook and subject line are used as you selected them, and the body and caption arrive as copyable text. The final read before publishing stays yours.
Q: How many ideas arrive per day, and do they cost credits?
A: Every brand gets 8 ideas a day: 4 hooks, 2 messaging angles and 2 email subject lines. Ideas are free and never spend creative credits.
Q: Where do I start?
A: You can create an account at adhero.fyi/kayit. New accounts get 5 free creative credits with no card required, and logging in happens at adhero.fyi/giris.
